We had the opportunity to be in the transit hall of Abu Dhabi airport as we had to change plane for our onward flight to Casablanca via Etihad from Kuala Lumpur. One most noticeable design of this airport is the unique ‘funnel’ like structure in the middle of the transit hall. On this level and the level below, there are stores for you to shop duty-free. The transit hall is rather small and finding a seat is a challenge.

We were in Abu Dhabi for a short 1½ day stay and went around town in a rented vehicle and taxi. From the vehicle, we recorded some scenes of modern downtown Abu Dhabi.
The heritage village is a cultural centre which re-create a traditional desert village and gives an insight into former life style of the UAE. Within the walled complex, you’ll find a fort, a souq, a mosque, ox-drawn well and an open museum. There are tents with campfires brewing tea. You’ll find workshop and exhibits of local arts such as weaving, glass blowing, metal works and pottery crafts. It’s just like any other cultural centre showcasing the country’s culture. Entrance is free.

About the best of the Heritage Village, is the view of downtown Abu Dhabi.
We ended our tour of Abu Dhabi at Marina Mall which is within walking distance from the Heritage Village. From the former traditional lifestyle we hop over to the reality of the 21st century. Marina Mall is like any other up scale mall elsewhere.
