Pensione Hotel is conveniently located in the CBD area at the intersection of Murray & Pier Street. Check-in for bookings made through Hotels.com was straight forward and fast. The staffs are friendly, helpful, efficient and cheerful.
The room is comfortable, clean and tidy but a little compact and restricted for couples. You have about a foot or so around each side of the bed which poses a problem if two suitcases are opened. The room comes with hair dryer, tea/coffee making facility, iron & mini iron board, safe and a large flat CTV. Noise from loud talking guest in the hallway is evident but the double glazed window kept outside noise, well outside. Free Wi-Fi is stable but not strong. For a nominal fee you can upgrade to a higher speed. No in-house breakfast nor room service is available.
The hotel is a few minutes walk to shopping areas like Hay Street and Murray Street and within 10-15 minutes walk to Perth train station, Barrack Jetty or Elizabeth Quay. Free Red CAT bus stops outside the hotel. Halal eateries along Murray & Pier St is an added convenience for Muslim guests.
We check-out from the hotel for a few days for our road trip and upon returning to Perth, we check-in again. Whatever that was not required during our road trip, was kept in the hotel’s luggage storage (for free).
On our return, there was two chocolate bars and a greeting card on the bed welcoming us back duly hand signed by the General Manager. Nice touch. In total, we stayed seven nights.
If you drive, get cheaper parking by making an online ‘book a bay’ for overnight parking with Wilson Parking for $7. You’ll need to park at Kings Complex at Hay Street nearby, a 3 minutes walk away.
