October 2016
Araluen Botanical Park is located approximately 30 km south of Perth. The Botanical Park covers an area of about 59 hectares. There is a small entry fee into the Park of $6 which is reasonable but wouldn’t want to recommend anyone to travel out of their way to visit it in mid October. During this time, there are limited mixtures of plant varieties to see.
The park is tidy, quite and relaxing with fresh air. However, we have to lower our expectation as the name of Botanic Park does not represent large varieties of plants found but rather limited. We did the train trip ($5) around the park which is a quick 15 minutes route and that was enough for us.
We were late (mid October) to see the tulips. All were gone except for a few patches here and there. It might have been worth a visit during the tulip season as visitors who were at the Botanic Park the previous week says the tulips were fantastic. It would be better for the Park to inform the best dates to see the tulips on their website like that of Keukenhof. However, even if we did get to see, we suppose the area is of no comparison to Kuekenhof or even Gulhane Park. So on our visit, only a handful of flower varieties are there to see and the limited roses had wilted too. A visit to Kings Park would offer a larger varieties of wild flowers to see.

With regards to the photos of the tulips below, please observe that the subject photographed were tightly cropped into the frame. That gives an impression there were lots of tulips while in actuality the tulips were only patches here and there and the whole Park was actually bare after the harvest of the wilted tulips.
