Murano Island, Venice

April 2016

To get to Murano Island (and thereafter to Burano Island) we took the no. 4.2 water bus from Fondamente Nove in Venice. Murano is about 1.5 km away and the ride takes under 10 minutes to reach the Colonna stop. Right in front of this stop there are shops selling glass products which glassmaking is what Murano is famous for.

If you are interested in glassware and crystals, from vases to chandeliers, a visit to Murano Island is for you. However, do be wary that cheap Chinese counterfeits has been known to be passed off as Murano glass. It’s just a look-see experience here as we are not into glass. For our onward ride to Burano island, we took the no. 12 water bus at the Faro stop.
