From Volendam we took a ferry across to Marken. It is a smaller fishing village compared to Volendam. Marken was formerly an island but now linked by dyke to the mainland. You can also visit Marken by bus from Amsterdam. We bought our online ferry ticket from Marken Express for €7.50 one way. The journey takes about 30 minutes. We will be taking the bus back to Amsterdam from here. Marken is an ideal photo spot for small habour scene.

Entering Marken for ferry to berth.
Boats and yachts at Marken.
Houses right up to the waterfront.
Passengers disembarking the ferry.
The ferry berth right up in-front of this cafe.
Other stores on the waterfront and that’s just about it. One row.
Houses belonging to locals behind the waterfront.
Further away from the waterfront, houses by the canal.
Modern designed houses away form the waterfront towards the bus stop. In the background is Marken harbor. Walk straight to the main road for the bus stand. Yes, straight ahead it’s a dead-end for vehicles but pedestrian can cross a small bridge to the main road. The bus stand will be to your right.
