Ifrane

Ifrane, Morocco

From Fes, we headed to Marrakesh which is slightly more than 500 km away. After an hour’s drive we arrived at the town of Ifrane which is a famous Moroccan winter resort. This town resembles more like a town in Switzerland. Two nights before we arrived, it had a short spell of snow which according to locals was unusual in the early November month. So we did see scatters of snow here and there in Ifrane.

At the entrance of Ifrane town, it has a statue of a lion similar in look like the one you will find in the Swiss city of Lucern. This is a peaceful and an inviting township and during the winter months, the nearby mountain slopes provides good skiing venue. Ifrane has the one and only English university in Morocco, the  Al Akhawayn university.

We continued our journey to Marrakesh stopping at Beni Mellal for lunch. We arrived late in the evening after more than 10 hours ride taking into consideration the stops at Ifrane and Beni Mellal.
